Summer 2018 at Jacob’s Pillow has wrapped. And I’m excited to share some behind-the-scenes videos with you!
Sixteen summers later, I still love this place with every part of my being. This summer I’m more grateful than ever. This talented, fun, silly, creative, humble team of mine did not stop. They took on hundreds of hours of filming dance, editing footage, making videos, interviewing artists, running in the rain to set up for shows, setting up cameras in multiple locations, charging batteries, barely sleeping, learning so much, growing so much and most of all, laughing like crazy.
Brittany Pace, Amber Schmiesing, Caroline Haidet, Mason Chapello you’re all going to continue to soar. Thank you for your dedication to filming dance. 📷❤️💃🏻🎥

I love being a part of Jacob’s Pillow. I continue to come back year after year because the Pillow is where creativity lives. The history, the passion, the artistry, the team work… collaboration is so poignant here.
What excites me most about my work is the ability to tell its story, to tell it from many different angles.
Of course it helps to sell tickets, but it also allows you to see a side of Jacob’s Pillow that you wouldn’t normally see if you were visiting.
The behind-the-scenes dance films my team and I create tell a story from different angles that many audience members aren’t able to experience, and to me that is so much fun.

Nel Shelby is Owner & Filmmaker for Nel Shelby Productions, her New York City-based company dedicated to dance videography and editing. Nel shares her mission to preserve and promote the art of dance with her husband, Christopher Duggan, a dance and wedding photographer. They collaborate on projects with dance companies of worldwide renown, up-and-coming choreographers, dance educators, dance schools and more. Nel is Video Producer at Jacob’s Pillow and Vail Dance Festival and is also the proud Director and Producer of PS DANCE! — a New York Emmy-nominated documentary about dance education in NYC’s public schools.
