Best Practices for APAP Dance Video
Every January, dance companies all over the city (and beyond!!) gear up for a busy week of showings, panels, meet-ups and workshops at the APAP (Association of Performing Arts Presenters) conference in New York City. We know that APAP can get a little stressful. January might seem far off now, but it’s coming up sooner than you think!
At Nel Shelby Productions, we see a bundle of last minute requests for video every January – fresh edits of video excerpts for Vimeo & YouTube, requests for DVDs… We totally get it. The fall dance season is in full swing, then come the holidays, then “OMG I can’t believe it’s APAP next week!!”
Because we hope all our clients will have tons to talk about with press and presenters during and after the APAP conference, we want to make sure you have what you need before presenters even ask for it. The last thing anyone wants is to feel like they’re scrambling to upload their videos (or make DVDs) to keep a presenter’s attention.
When clients plan with us in advance, we can turn things around quickly, and at little-to-no extra charge. So we’ve put together this guide to help you assess your APAP needs!
We can make your striking promo videos to attract audiences and presenters to your performance
Promotional videos are extremely valuable to have on hand before the conference. Not only can they help attract presenters to your showcase, they boost your brand and bring audiences in to see your work. Nothing looks better to presenters than gorgeous media and full houses!
We’ll make you striking promo videos so that your marketing is a breeze – like this one below that we made for Ballet Hispanico!
Tell us what you need and we’ll have your video footage ready!
One of the best ways to keep presenters immediately engaged with your work is to give them easy access to your work samples!
For following up, you’ll want your videos uploaded online. We can take care of Vimeo and Youtube uploads so that all you have to do is send a quick email with a link to your work.
It’s also helpful to have videos on hand at the conference to seal the deal with interested presenters. We can help you put your work samples onto flash drives so that you don’t miss a moment.
Some presenters may still want DVDs. (What’s wrong with them, you ask? We don’t know either.) Anyway, we can work with you to create stand-out, beautifully designed DVD menus and labels using your favorite images, your company logo and font if you need them. The goal? Enhance your brand and show off your professionalism while sharing your work.
Let us film your newest dances at the conference!
If you’re showing new work, it’s probably the first time you’ll have more production value – lights, costumes, and sound. In the past, we’ve filmed our clients’ showings to share in follow-up talks with presenters. Get in touch with us today and we’ll get your APAP show on our calendars!!
LET'S get you booked!
