Honored at Treehouse Shakers’ Gala | Celebrating the Arts, Seeding the Future

Last year, we created a video to celebrate 20 years of Treehouse Shakers. We loved telling their story of choreography, music, creativity, puppets, kids and lessons and art and joy!

 

This year, Treehouse Shakers celebrates 21 years at their annual gala and Christopher and I are so humbled and grateful that they have chosen us as the 2018 Community Impact Award Honorees.

Christopher and I have been photographing and filming Treehouse Shakers for years. We help document their shows so they can promote them and share them with new presenters. We’ve always tried not only to photograph and film the performance itself but also the reaction and response their shows get from the kids watching!
Children are enthralled by Treehouse Shakers. We have seen this over and over again in the theatre. We take our own family to see their shows, because they are so lively and fun and engaging!

Seeing a Treehouse Shakers show is sometimes the first performance, specifically in viewing dance, that young people experience!

I am so grateful to support their work bringing the magic of the theatre to kids. And Christopher and I are thankful they have invited us as honorees at their gala this year.

Nel Shelby is Owner & Filmmaker for Nel Shelby Productions, her New York City-based company dedicated to dance videography and editing. Nel shares her mission to preserve and promote the art of dance with her husband, Christopher Duggan, a dance and wedding photographer. They collaborate on projects with dance companies of worldwide renown, up-and-coming choreographers, dance educators, dance schools and more. Nel is Video Producer at Jacob’s Pillow and Vail Dance Festival and is also the proud Director and Producer of PS DANCE! — a New York Emmy-nominated documentary about dance education in NYC’s public schools.
