On September 9, 2001 I moved to New York City, a recent college graduate and fresh from a video internship at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival. I moved in with two friends and we were ready to make it happen in the Big Apple. Two days later, not even unpacked, I woke up to a devastating day. I watched the first tower crumble in front of my eyes from New Jersey. Every year on September 11th, I remember the day that affected all Americans, and especially New Yorkers, so deeply. Last year, a friend contacted me about live-streaming a tributory piece by Buglisi Dance Theatre
called “The Table of Silence” on September 11th, and I was deeply moved by the performance.
This year, Buglisi invited 120 dancers to perform the work again at Lincoln Center Plaza. Please join us for a moment of reflection and remembrance. Come to Lincoln Center or tune in to our live-stream on the web.
