Last week at Jacob’s Pillow, we filmed Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart. The company is so much fun to watch – full of wit and charm – and their dancers are just wonderful. The program featured Floating Flowers by Po-Cheng Tsai, Eric Gauthier’s Punk Love, and Mauro Bigonzetti’s Cantata with original and traditional music from southern Italy performed live onstage by the dancers and Gruppo Musicale ASSURD.
Learn all about them in their Pillow Post-Show Talk.
Eric Gauthier in conversation with Jacob’s Pillow Scholar-in-Residence Maura Keefe.
“Dance is not just movement… dance is with singing now, and can be with speaking… those challenges, the dancers just eat them up, and I have to keep finding more and more challenges, that’s my job.”
We’ve also been doing something new at the Pillow this year – Ben Richards, NSP videographer and Assistant Video Producer at Jacob’s Pillow, is creating these awesome behind-the-scenes snippets of life here at the Pillow. There’s so much more to experience outside of the performance space, and there’s so much that goes into producing a fantastic show here.
The dancers who come to the Pillow really live and breathe the Pillow. Gauthier was warming up, taking technique class in the Bakalar Studio attached to the Ted Shawn Theatre, and Ben captured it on film to give you all a sneak peek.
