What a joy to film such excellent dancing each week at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, and hearing the inside scoop from the choreographers is just the icing on the Pillow cake! My incredible video team at the Pillow works very hard to get these Post-Show Talks ready for you each week so we can share what we’ve been hearing, learning and watching with all of you who can’t be here in person.

These videos are part of Seeing Dance, Talking Dance, a project of Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, encouraging different ways of seeing, discussing, and appreciating dance. Everyone who bought a ticket for these shows receives an email with the videos, so they can watch the Post-Show Talks if they went to another performance or had to leave before the talks.

Last week, Doug Elkins told us that his first full-time contemporary dance experience was as a scholarship student at The School of Jacob’s Pillow (class of ’82!!), and let us into the thought process behind his choreography for his Mo(or)town/Redux.

“I came from a background of b-boy, house dancing, martial arts…” – Doug Elkins

Companhia Urbana de Danca was also at the Pillow this week, sharing two very different dance works. Artistic Director Sonia Destri Lie talks about how she developed their world premiere and how her choreographic process is very emotional.
