The Hong Kong Ballet by Christopher Duggan
What a wonderful week one at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival!! We’re uploading footage of the Pillow’s awesome and illuminating post-show talks each week, and I’m going to share them with you here. Learn more about these dance companies and see some highlights from their performances edited into the post-show footage!
Nel Shelby Production’s Ashli Bickford filled in for me while I was in New York City earlier during opening week, focusing on my documentary, Where Women Don’t Dance, and she had such a blast as videographer. My Pillow team filmed The Hong Kong Ballet and it looks just gorgeous.
Carmen de Lavallade by Christopher Duggan; see more of his first week photos on his blog
I jumped in at the end of the week and filmed As I Remember It, a program by Carmen de Lavallade. I loved every moment of filming this dance performance…I almost felt like I went into another world, time stopped and I was enthralled by Ms. de Lavallade’s life. Pretty excited that Meryl Streep was in the house watching, even though I did not spot her!!
Christopher Duggan and Nel Shelby are a Manhattan-based husband and wife team, making photos & video with dance artists every summer at Jacob’s Pillow.
