I’m so excited to finally be up at Jacob’s Pillow filming the rest of the season. Especially with all of the fantastic artists performing in the festival this summer.

Even though the season is just in its second week, I’ve been gearing up for the dance festival for months. When it was announced that Kyle Abraham would be honored with this year’s Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award, I had the pleasure of filming him in Central Park.

Christopher and I interviewed Kyle, and I was really surprised at how open he was and willing to share himself with the Pillow and his fans. I was inspired during his interview, which made the whole experience of putting the video together super spiritual. I was on a tight deadline, but everything just flowed so well. I was totally in the zone.

I’ve grown to have such an appreciation for Kyle Abraham as an artist and choreographer. The diversity of his work is amazing. He can go from total modern dancer to total hip-hop. This dance film was shown right before Kyle Abraham was presented the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award. It was created for the 2012 Gala at Jacob’s Pillow in collaboration with Norton Owen, the Pillow’s Director of Preservation. Congratulations Kyle!
