Livestreaming the Jacob’s Pillow Gala Performance
Our family spends a majority of the summer in Berkshire County, MA, at the magical place that is Jacob’s Pillow.
As the Pillow’s Director of Media, I mentor a hard-working media team. Our first big project of the summer is livestreaming the Festival’s Season Opening Gala.

Have you seen the line-up of performers?!!
All dancers and companies I know and love!
Dance Theatre of Harlem will perform Christopher Wheeldon’s gorgeous ballet This Bitter Earth, Bill Irwin and Dorrance Dance are always pure joy, and Lil Buck brings his much beloved The Swan to the Ted Shawn Theatre stage…
The Contemporary Ballet dancers of The School at Jacob’s Pillow always blow us away in a piece by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa (after only a week of rehearsals!), and Gianna Theodore, a dancer from A.I.M by Kyle Abraham, will perform a solo…
Misty Copeland will be honored with the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award…
The show is going to be so great, I’m so excited!!!
Last summer, Jacob’s Pillow opened a full control room to filming, live-mixing, and occasionally, livestreaming performances in the newly renovated Ted Shawn Theatre. This room is the first of its kind at the Pillow, and we’re eager to get back in there.
Our team used to set up in a small corner, seated essentially on the floor (no, I’m not exaggerating!) while live-mixing cameras, so you can imagine how excited we are to be back in that amazing new space to direct live mixes and stream high-quality productions!!!
Like last year’s 90th Anniversary Gala, this year’s will be livestreamed across the globe.

We’ve been working really hard as a team to refine our skills in creating hybrid performance events that incorporate livestream –not as an afterthought, but as an integral part of the production. Versions of the stream will be available with live captions, ASL interpretation, or audio description for greater accessibility for all viewers.
