Keep Moving | Nel Shelby On Self Care
I took self-care to another level in 2017, which was actually tough.
I heard about this thing called a Peloton bike and said: I must have this. I took the plunge and it has truly changed me.
You’re thinking: “Why is Nel telling me this?” I know, hang in there…
I keep trying to figure out why. Why did this (and some other things ☺) make such a huge improvement in my day to day? Then it hit me – it keeps me moving, it makes me sweat, it pushes my limits, it challenges me. The Peloton does all those things that dance has always done for me, and I am hooked.
Movement is at the core of our being.
My mom just started dance classes, and she is soaring and so excited. Her teacher said to her and the rest of the class: “Keep moving, because dance makes us happy.”
Knowing this, life becomes very simple. We just need to move.
My contribution to “keep moving” is to keep exercising AND to film dancers, who make moving their mission!
It’s no wonder Nel Shelby Productions is a team full of dancers that have found the love of dance from behind the camera. There is no place we would rather be!!
We want to film more and more dance and continue to get better and better at doing it, so that your work can shine.
We are so grateful for the many projects that continue coming our way. Filming for Dance Education Laboratory, Brian Brooks at The Joyce, Jody Oberfelder, Carolyn Dorfman (my longest-time client of 15 years!!), and even flying to Miami to film L.A. Dance Project. There are a few big films about dance education on the horizon… And pretty soon we’ll be getting ready for Jacob’s Pillow and Vail Dance Festival.
I am so grateful to be able to serve these companies and make sure that dance is documented and seen in the best way possible.
There is always more room in our schedule as I continue to build our team of extremely talented videographers & editors. If you know of anyone that would like to talk more about what Nel Shelby Productions does, please reach out to me at email@example.com.
We can also connect on my monthly Facebook Live videos where I will bring video topics to the table and have casual conversations with new guests each month. I share video tips to help you navigate the world of dance video – filming performance, making promotional videos and more.
