I’ve been working on a dance documentary with dancer and choreographer Nejla Y. Yatkin for a few years now. The film is called Where Women Don’t Dance, and we filmed it three years ago in Central America. As we continue to work on making this feature-length dance film, Nejla continues to create new dances for her company NY2Dance.

Currently, she has a work in progress called Oasis, and I created a simple one-camera shoot for the work during a performance at Dance Place in Washington D.C. The ultimate goal of my promotional dance videos is to get more work for the artist—to giveĀ presenters and funders a better understanding of the work. And to attract potential new audience members. Do I have you hooked yet?
