It’s that time of year! We’re back at Vail Dance Festival!
Every summer, I spend two weeks in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains filming and editing videos for Vail Dance Festival. I love it here!!! It’s my happy place. I grew up in Colorado, so I’m a Colorado girl at heart!!
Opening Night was a huge success. Dancers from American Ballet Theatre, Alonzo King LINES Ballet, New York City Ballet (and more!) took the stage.
My team and I live mixed to the lawn of the amphitheater to make an even better experience for the audience. It was amazing!!!
One of my favorite things about Vail Dance Festival is the collaborations between artists from different companies. It’s incredible to watch the dancers work together and create. It’s so special that the audience is able to watch some of the top dancers and choreographers in the world take the stage together. SO fun!!

Nel Shelby is Owner & Filmmaker for Nel Shelby Productions, her New York City-based company dedicated to dance videography and editing. Nel shares her mission to preserve and promote the art of dance with her husband, Christopher Duggan, a dance and wedding photographer. They collaborate on projects with dance companies of worldwide renown, up-and-coming choreographers, dance educators, dance schools and more. Nel is Video Producer at Jacob’s Pillow and Vail Dance Festival and is also the proud Director and Producer of PS DANCE! — a New York Emmy-nominated documentary about dance education in NYC’s public schools.
