During the month of January, we worked with Tyler Ashley, the Marketing Director at New York Live Arts, to make short promos for three different shows.

The first was for Abby Z and the New Utility, who I have had the pleasure of meeting at Jacob’s Pillow. Her work is fierce and Ashli on my team filmed one of her showings at the APAP Conference to capture the work. I really love this promotional dance video!!

My husband, Christopher, and I filmed Zishan Ugurlu and Alexandra Chasin’s show next. It was their very first rehearsal with everyone, so our challenge was to capture it in a way that tells a story about the performance, and to get people excited about coming to the show.

Then we filmed Kimberly Bartosik. I have always loved her work. We filmed a rehearsal and run through with two cameras. t was one of those projects where time flew by because I was so in-the-groove filming.

During the editing process, I worked with Zishan Ugurlu on her edit, and the back and forth was super fun for me (you know how much I love collaborating)!!! I was also able to edit one-on-one with Kimberly Bartoksik – I loved working with her and getting her feedback.

It’s a bit rare these days for me to shoot and edit, because my team typically takes on more of these things while I lead larger film projects and inhabit producer/director roles in my business. With these promotional dance videos for New York Live Arts, I felt like I was coming back home. I am so grateful for my talented team, but it is important for me to stay in the work, too.
