Documenting Richard Move’s Dances for NYPL

My team and I have been documenting Richard Move‘s work for the Jerome Robbins Dance Division at The New York Public Library — the largest dance archive in the world — for several years.

We work with the Jerome Robbins Dance Division at the NYPL often, either at the request of an artist or the library.
Richard Move is a truly incredible artist, and it’s been an honor to document their work.
We have filmed two iterations of their project, Herstory of the Universe. It’s an ongoing series of site-specific vignettes that feel mystical and ethereal.

Most recently, we filmed Herstory of the Universe@Dartmouth. It was a beautiful outdoor performance. View an excerpt above!

Back in 2021, we filmed Herstory of the Universe@Governors Island.

It was a series of six site-specific dance performances and led audience members on a journey across Governors Island’s iconic public space—from the ancient trees of Nolan Park to the secluded lawns of Hammock Grove and the dramatic topography of the Hills.

Siobhan Burke for the New York Times included the performance in the “Best Dance of 2021” feature! I am so grateful that my career has brought me collaborations with such amazing artists.
