“Had we not had our existing relationship with Nel Shelby Productions, we never would have been able to pivot so quickly this summer, and bring such joy to so many. We will never forget all it took to make Dance We Must and Virtual Festival 2020 happen. You and your team have been ESSENTIAL artists/workers to partner with us in our vision.”

Livestream Productions & Virtual Broadcasts by NSP
We have been producing livestreams and virtual broadcasts for years. For Merce Cunningham Trust’s centennial event, “Night of 100 Solos,” we live-streamed three in-person performances from three cities in one day (London, Los Angeles and New York). In 2020-21, our team produced Jacob’s Pillow’s first-ever Virtual Festival, Vail Dance’s Digital Festival and live-streamed virtual benefits for many dance companies. Not all performance or virtual event broadcasts remain online after they air, but we’ve shared some examples of broadcasts and our experiences filming them on our blog.
Nel Shelby talks to Conversations on Dance podcast about a 15-camera, made-for-broadcast dance performance film with The Kennedy Center.
We created a promo for the organization Dance Against Cancer, and we’ll be livestreaming the performance on May 9!
We love capturing the magical mix of rehearsals & on-stage moments that make Vail such a special space for supporting creation & high-caliber performance.
Every year, on September 11, Buglisi Dance Theatre offers audiences a chance to reflect and remember 9/11 with a special outdoor performance at Josie Robertson Plaza, Lincoln Center in New York City.
Why host a hybrid event (simultaneously serving in-person and online audiences via livestream) versus editing together a show online audiences can access on-demand? For me, it always goes back to your goals.
Vail Dance Festival starts off with an Opening Night that acts as a sampler of the performances to come. It features some really beautiful works and interesting collaborations that the Festival will premiere.
“I personally truly appreciated not having to worry about anything since for the smaller projects, I am usually the person who has to figure everything out. Nel brought in a professional staff to handle all aspects of the project which made for smooth sailing the whole way.”
